Wandile Duba double sends Chiefs to Premiership summit after comeback win

The fixture began 15 minutes later than scheduled after large numbers of supporters arrived late at the stadium.

Chiefs made the brighter start and took the lead in the sixth minute through Flavio Da Silva. The forward capped off a flowing move that began deep inside his own half by finishing from close range.

Although Amakhosi controlled possession for much of the opening period, they struggled to carve out further clear opportunities. Kruger United threatened after half an hour when Khetukuthula Ndlovu unleashed a fierce long-range strike that flew narrowly over the crossbar, while Mfundo Vilakazi's free-kick from just outside the area was blocked by the defensive wall moments later.

As the first half wore on, Chiefs ceded more of the ball to the hosts, who levelled in stoppage time. Ndlovu curled an effort beyond the goalkeeper via the inside of the post to send the teams into the interval locked at 1-1.

Da Cruz responded with a double substitution at the break, introducing Sibongiseni Mthethwa for Siphesihle Ndlovu and replacing Da Silva with Duba.

The changes paid immediate dividends. After Marcel Dandjinou pushed away Reeve Frosler's effort, Duba reacted quickest to slot home the rebound. Ten minutes later, he wrapped up the contest as his deflected strike looped over Dandjinou, completing his brace.
