PSL Preview Wrap: Top-flight newcomers brace for tough tests as Premiership returns
As the Betway Premiership returns this weekend, all eyes will be on the newcomers to see how they adapt to the demands of top-flight football.
The 30-year-old Bosnian striker was a breakout star for the Rockets in his debut season in the South African top-flight with 11 goals and two assists in 30 games in all competitions.
He has been linked with a number of clubs throughout the off-season but refuted reports he has had contact with any of the "big-three" South African team, while admitting he has turned down two subpar offers.
Zajmovic told KickOff: "Two clubs made contact, but I was not happy with the proposals about a month ago.
"It was not even one of the big three clubs in South Africa. Okay, with regards to Kaizer Chiefs, they never contacted me. I have seen people writing a lot of nonsense that I'm negotiating with them, but nothing like that has happened.
"All the things on the internet about me and Chiefs are not true because they have never contacted me. What I know is that I have shown myself in a good way, but maybe it is not good enough for some clubs."
Zajmovic added that he could be tempted by a good local offer or even a move to Asia.
"You never know who decides in the clubs, and they go for what they like. With regards to where I would go next, I prefer respect and being valued. Maybe I will go to Asia. I'm fit," he said.
"In South Africa, I would have liked to go to one of the big three because I have already adapted. If it is another club outside the big three and they show that they really want and value me, then I will take that offer.
"It is strange that the top three clubs didn't contact me despite the numbers that I had in South Africa because I feel I did well."
