Coventry City boss Frank Lampard heaps praise on Ghana striker Brandon Thomas-Asante
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has lauded in-form Ghana striker Brandon Thomas-Asante.
The 25-year-old was handed a starting berth at the Accra Sports Stadium in the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Eagles, partnering former Arsenal star Thomas Partey in midfield as they won 1-0 in a hard-fought Group I encounter, Ghanasoccernet.com wrote.
Alexander Djiku's second-half strike sealed the three points, keeping the Black Stars firmly on course for a fifth World Cup appearance.
Sibo's opportunity came after Elisha Owusu's suspension ruled him out of the previous qualifier against Chad in N'Djamena. He seized the chance with a disciplined display that earned plaudits from both fans and pundits.
Reflecting on the occasion, Sibo admitted the debut was both an honour and a challenge, one he intends to use as motivation going forward.
"Getting a starting role in such a crucial match means the coach has confidence in me," Sibo told Graphic Sports.
"But I have to work even harder to fight for a place in the team. If I don't get regular playing time at Oviedo, I'll not catch the eye of the coach. So my focus is to keep working hard, for my club and for Ghana."
Currently, Ghana lead their qualifying group with 19 points, holding the advantage heading into the final two matches. The Black Stars will face the Central African Republic and Comoros in October, needing to maintain their momentum to book a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
For Sibo, the mission is clear: consistency at club level to remain in the plans of coach Otto Addo as Ghana chase a ticket to North America.
